Why do we practice Cheng Hsin?
Cheng Hsin Tui Shou, the Art of Effortless Power is an internal martial art with roots in Tai Chi Chuan, Aikido, Judo, Jiujitsu, Hsing I and Pa Kua. It is a dynamic martial art with many forms of play and combat and in addition a large number of "martial" techniques such as throwing, grabbing, squeezing, uprooting and throwing. TAI CHI CHUAN
In our Tai Ji classes, we do a warm-up exercise to relax the body. Then we learn a tai chi form : the Cheng Hsin Mini Set.
This will give a variety of postures so the body has to find the most balanced and relaxed way of doing them. We use the principles from body-being and effortless power.
We also learn a tai chi San Shou, a two person set. This form teaches us how to move with a partner and to learn to move in an effective interaction. Moving with a partner teaches skills like listening, following, feeling, balancing, joining, etc.

In our Tai Ji Sword Play classes, we learn to balance the sword with our body. We move as one with the sword and we do it effortlessly.
If we use force with an extra weight, our articulation will not be happy. Repetitive bad movements can be detrimental.
Therefore, we learn to listen to the sword, to feel how it moves in space and how it is affected by gravity. It's like having a very relaxed partner. We listen and follow, and when possible, we take over and turn the situation into our advantage. We move in harmony with our partner without projecting, without hesitating. We learn this in our partner set.
We also learn a solo set and once we have more confidence, we can do FreePlay with the sword.
There's a class every Thursday, the odd week of the month.

CALENDAR 2022 : CALENDAR 2023 :
In our yoga-boxing classes, we mix the art of yoga with the art of interaction with boxing.
We start by stretching with postures from Ashtanga yoga like the sun salutation and other postures. We learn to strengthen our core and balance our body over our arms.
The other half of the class, we put on our boxing gloves and learn to do an effortless punch. We would move the body in order to move the arms. We play games with our partners. We learn skills while teaching the body to move in a completely different way, effortlessly.
This class is very dynamic and perfect for those who likes to get a good cardio training in a short period of time. It's a playful way of training because we never notice how fast time passes.
