PUSH HAND
In our Tui Shui classes, we focus on practicing codified drills with a partner to improve our balance and learn to handle external forces. We also learn how to relax our body when under pressure and allow it to align with the ground to maintain balance. If necessary, we move to avoid losing our alignment.
To visualize this, I imagine myself as a big balloon that bounces off when met with an incoming force. However, if the force is too strong, I follow the force and roll away to maintain my balance.
Through Tui Shui, we learn to move our body as a whole, allowing force to flow from the ground, through our center, to our hands and partner. We also learn to observe our partner's balance and movement to respond accordingly. Tui Shui can be done in both stationary and dynamic ways, making it an excellent way to improve body alignment with a partner.
